STRENGTH OF MATERIALS LAB

OBJECTIVE:

Steel, timber, bricks etc, material s are tested in this lab apart from catering the needs of civil and mechanical engineering students. It has state of are equipment like UTM, 40tons capacity loading frame etc.

 

FLUID MECHANICS AND HYDRAULIC MACHINES LAB

 

 

OBJECTIVE:

This lab caters the need of civil, mechanical, electrical and chemical engineering students. It has all major equipment such as Pelton turbine, francis turbine, reciprocating pump, centrifugal pump, hydraulic ram, wind tunnel, gear oil pump etc,. It also has flow measuring euqipment like venturimeter, mouth piece, V-notch etc., apart from open channel.

 

 

THERMAL ENGINEERING LAB

OBJECTIVE:

To impart practical exposure to the student on the performance evolution methods of various types of internal combustion(I.C) engines and compressors.

 

Major equipment:

1) Four stroke single cylinder diesel engine 2) two stroke single cylinder petrol engine 3) Two stage Reciprocating Air compressor test rig

 

HEAT TRANSFER LAB

OBJECTIVE: The lab course is aimed to provide the practical exposure to the students with regard to the determination of amount of heat exchange in various modes of heat transfer including condensation and boiling for several geometries.

Major equipment: 1) Thermal conductivity Measurement Apparatus 2) Stefan Boltzmann Apparatus 3) Critical Heat Flux Apparatus 4) Composite Wall Apparatus 5) Lagged pipe Apparatus 6) Forced Convection Apparatus 7) Natural Convection Apparatus 8) Parallel and counter flow heat Exchanger Apparatus 9) Emissivity Measurement Apparatus 10) Drop wise and film wise condensation Apparatus 11) Pin-Fin Apparatus 12) Metal bar apparatus

 

MACHINE TOOLS LAB

             

OBJECTIVE: The Students are required to understand the parts of various machine tools and operate them and they are Required to know different shapes of products that can produced on these machine tools.

Major equipment: 1) Lathe (4.5,9 FEET), 2) Milling Machine 3) Surface grinding machine 4) Shaping Machine 5) Radial Drilling Machine 6) Pillar Drilling Machine 10) Power Hacksaw etc.

 

METROLOGY & INSRUMENTATION LAB

Major equipment: 1) LVDT (Linear Variable Differential Transformer) 2) Pressure Transducer 3) Thermocouple 4) RTD (Resistance Temp. Detector) 5) Strain Gauge 6) Vernier Callipers 7) Screw Gauge 8) Micrometre 9) Vernier height gauge 10) Sine bar etc.

 

PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGY LAB

OBJECTIVE: To impart hands-on practical exposure on manufacturing processes and equipment.

Major equipment: 1) TIG welding unit 2) Blow moulding unit 3) Spot welding unit 4) Foundry etc.

 

METALLURGY AND MATERIAL SCIENCE LAB

             

OBJECTIVE: To impart practical exposure on the microstructures of various materials and their hardness evaluation.

Major equipment: 1) Jomnyend quench Apparatus 2) Muffle Furnace 3) Binocular Microscopes 4) Single disc polishing machine 5) Tribometre 6) Specimen mounting machine etc.

 

WORKSHOP LAB

           

OBJECTIVE: To impart hands-on practice on basic engineering trades and skills like Carpentry, Fitting, House wiring, and Tin smithy.

 

SIMULATION LAB

              

OBJECTIVE:

  1. To impart the fundamental knowledge on using various analytical tools like AUTOCAD, ANSYS, CATIA, etc., for Engineering Simulation.
  2. To know various fields of engineering where these tools can be effectively used to improve the output of a product.
  3. To impart knowledge on how these tools are ued in Industries by solving some real time problems using these tools

THEORY OF MACHINES LAB

             

Impart practical knowledge on design and analysis of mechanisms for the specified type of motion in a machine. With the study of rigid bodies motions and forces for the transmission systems, machine kinematics and dynamics can be well understood.
